Tolls
Tolling is limited and localised — a small number of turnpike facilities and express lanes, mostly around the Triangle and Charlotte.

Operating cost
Charlotte, the Triad and the Triangle are close enough that empty miles between loads stay short, which protects margin.
I-95 through the state is a heavy corridor; transit-time risk is a scheduling cost even when the rate is fine.
